During the past week we have come across three cases where customers have been left with poorly designed solar systems by a previous installation company. In all cases the poor design was not noticed until some years later when we attended site to check a fault or perform a service.
Issues we have identified are:
- A solar array upgrade added – with additional panels placed right under a huge mango tree.
- A solar array extended – with totally mismatched panels added to the same string/group as the original older panels.
- A larger solar array installed with all panels facing east – when a split east-west array or even all west would have been better.
In all cases the result is that whilst the system does still function, it functions at a far reduced level than where it should, and the customer has paid for something that they haven’t received.
In at least two of these cases, the work was done by a local company, so unfortunately we can’t say it was done by fly-by-nighters.
Energy Base invests into training all of our electricians to become Clean Energy Council Accredited Design and Installers.
We presently have the following electricians accredited:
Shannon Hagger A8662476
Brendan Camilleri A8394651
Eben Potgieter A5018496
And this week our newest electrician Nick Goddard is undergoing his training to gain his accreditation.
Therefore we will soon have four electricians on our books with the right knowledge and experience to carry out a proper design and give you the right advice about your solar power system!
