Staying on the 44c Tariff? See What It Could Cost You in Lost Rebates
Queensland’s Solar Bonus Scheme 44c feed-in tariff ends on 1 July 2028. After that, all remaining customers move to standard retailer feed-in rates, which are a fraction of what they receive now.
Many households plan to keep the 44c rate until the last day and upgrade then. The catch is that the government incentives for solar and batteries are shrinking while you wait. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate now steps down every six months, and the solar STC rebate falls every year until it ends in 2030. By mid-2028, the same system could cost you thousands more than it would today.
This calculator shows you both sides of the decision. Enter your details to compare the feed-in income you’d give up by leaving the 44c tariff early with the rebates you’d lose by waiting until 2028.
You’ll see whether holding on or upgrading now makes more financial sense for your home.
